Our Vision


Our vision is a world where orangutans are free from the threat of extinction and can live in the wild, unharmed by humans.

Orangutans are on the brink of extinction. Help provide the care and rehabilitation 
they need to return to the wild.

The Problem


There are numerous threats to the viability of the remaining wild orangutan population in Indonesia and Malaysia.  The primary threat is the loss of habitat with up to 80% of suitable forest in Indonesia and Malaysia having been lost in the past 20 years. Other threats, which often go hand-in-hand with the destruction of the rainforest, are the illegal pet trade and poaching.

Jo Ann I am thrilled to see them being released but I’m saying if I worked with them I would be broken hearted to let them go. They are very loving would be like giving away your own child.

I watched a show called Orangutan Jungle School and it was AWESOME. If you can find it watch it. Bennie will melt your heart. ✌️❤️😀

I wouldn’t like to work in this place because I would be broken hearted 💔 when they were taken back to the forest to the freedom they should have.

I'm curious, how do you teach the babies the dangers of the forest? I can just see a curious kid reaching for a venomous snake!

The BKSDA Kalimantan Timur successfully rescued a one-year-old female #orangutan who had been kept as a pet for five months by a resident of Pendamaran Village in Kembang Janggut, Kutai Kartanegara.

The villager allegedly found the infant, whom we named Jenny, alone in a palm oil plantation, separated from her mother.

Jenny is now being cared for at the BOS Foundation's Samboja Lestari Centre, where she will undergo rehabilitation until she is ready to return to her wild rainforest home.

This joint rescue and rehabilitation effort is part of our shared commitment to protecting orangutans in Kaliman#borneoorneo.
